Interface Inc. - Calibration facilities

With one of the most complete facilities in the industry, Interface can perform calibrations for most force measurement equipment in use today. The measurements are directly traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), formerly National Bureau of Standards (NBS). The advantages of the services include:

  • Most consistent and meticulous calibration facility in the industry.

  • More data provided than from many commercial calibration labs.

  • Direct traceability to NIST

  • 1 lbf (4.5 Newton) to 240,000 lbf (1.1 megaNewton) capability.

  • Compliance with MIL-STD-45662A, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and ASTM E74 specifications.

  • Fast turnaround.

  • Complete visual inspection, load cell service and performance evaluation with every calibration.

  • Highly trained and experienced repair and calibration personnel.

  • Calibrations for most manufacturers' load cells.

  • 5 deadweight systems.

  • 4 hydraulic systems.

Good practice at Interface

  • All cells are stabilised at lab temperature for 24 hours prior to calibration.

  • All customer supplied electronic systems are warmed up to ensure stability prior to calibration runs.

  • Load cells are exercised three times to at least full measurement range prior to test, to erase the history of previous loadings.

  • Time between readings is minimised and controlled to reduce the effects of creep. A typical 5-point automated hydraulic calibration run can be completed in about two minutes, unless outside specifications require longer loading intervals.

  • For hydraulic calibrations, only NIST certified Gold Standard™ load cells are used as reference standards to provide the assurance of;

  • Low temperature sensitivity

  • Low extraneous load sensitivity

  • Low creep

  • Years of history on each standard
